We receive anywhere from 1 to 5 requests each week for access to the castle to investigate paranormal activity. As an operating business we obviously cannot accomodate all these requests and actually have not allowed any in the past few years. Several years ago, when there were not as many groups out there we allowed a few local groups in.

Having experienced many noises, feelings, smells, touches etc that cannot be easily explained we recognize that a proper investigation cannot be conducted while the restaurant is open for business. These are subtle phenomena and the noise and commotion of an operating restaurant is not the best environment for discerning the difference between the unexplainable and the mundane.

So we are faced with a conundrum of sorts. We would like to offer access to groups at an ideal time for investigations but as a business we cannot open for an investigation that may take several hours without some reasonable compensation for time and staffing. In addition, as owners, we live here at the Castle and 'late night' investigations are a bit of an inconvenience.

With all of that in mind we are now taking appointments for established groups to visit the Castle to investigate but we are forced to establish guidelines and charge a fee to cover the time, set-up and supervision of paranormal groups.

Please email with your request and include:
1) Your groups credentials including website, history, contact information (email & phone)
2) A brief description of your methodology.
3) A statement of your plans for use of your conclusions.

We are requiring a contract specifying the following guidelines
and a fee of $100 payable on arrival by cash or credit card.
Appointments will be made, as available, for late-night investigations on Monday nights only. Groups limited to 6 investigators may start setting up at 8pm. An insurance waiver must be signed by every member of the investigating group. Investigations are limited to 5 hours from the start of set-up time. We will provide bottled water, coffee or tea. At least one Castle staff member will be on site to coordinate. Once the investigation begins we will provide shutdown of any motor-powered equipment and florescent lighting to avoid background noise. We also require that (in addition to the investigating groups rights and access) Beardslee Castle has rights and access to resulting photos, video or audio that is captured including signed appearance waivers for each individual who may appear in photo, video or audio. Your group will have access to the entire Castle, with the exception of kitchen and office areas. You will also have access to the grounds with the exception of the carriage house and the area surrounding the carriage house.

We hope that this will accomodate the requests of most of the many groups and authors who have contacted up over the past few years.

For those who wish a less structured investigation you are welcome to visit the Castle any night we are open for business. No fee or purchases are neccessary for access to the Dungeon area while we are still open for business at the end of the night, however, once all guests have left the Castle we may have the option to close the restaurant and end any investigation in progress.
